A course for students with an interest in current affairs, the environment, enjoyment of travel and finding out about new people, places, landscapes and events. A level geography is a good option for students who are considering studying either science or social science subjects as the syllabus includes both physical and human geography. Geography is classified into four core themes: Dynamic Planet • Tectonic Processes and Hazards • Coastal Landscapes & Change Dynamic Places • Globalisation • Regenerating Places Political Systems and Sustainability • The Water Cycle and Water Insecurity • The Carbon Cycle and Energy Security Human Systems and Geopolitics • Superpowers • Global Development and Connections • Health, Human Rights & Intervention • Migration, Identity & Sovereignty In Year 12 you study at least one core physical geography theme and one core human geography theme. In Year 13 you study aspects of all four themes.
To study A levels at QPCS you have to achieve at least six GCSE grades 5 - 9. Grade 6 in Geography, or another humanities or science subject, if you haven’t studied Geography
