A level geographers are fascinated by the world they live in. They are interested in current events, both human and natural, and the impacts these have. Geographers learn about and are able to debate the future of the environment and societies. With ever increasing threats of climate change, mass extinctions, extreme weather events, poverty, crises of mass migrations, energy and food insecurity, the world needs more Geographers! A mix of physical and human topics: Physical topics •Coastal landscapes and systems •Contemporary Urban environments- climate, drainage, waste Human topics •Changing Places •Contemporary Global systems and global governance urban environments- megacities and sustainable urban development
For A Level courses applicants will need six 4-9 grades including English and Mathematics with a minimum of a grade 6 in their chosen relevant subjects. Grade 6 or above in GCSE Geography.
2 written exams (2 x 2 hour 30 mins) 1. Physical geography 2. Human geography 1 piece of coursework on an individual fieldwork investigation-3000-4000 words.
