Geography had been named by The Guardian as the ‘must have A-Level’. As well as being a fascinating subject that gives you a deeper understanding of the physical and human world, it also equips you with a diverse range of skills that can be applied in almost any career path. In Geography you will explore many of the contemporary issues facing the world today and evaluate what the future of our planet holds! The units you will study are: - Physical Geography: Water and Carbon Cycles. Coastal Systems and Landscapes. Natural Hazards - Human Geography: Changing Places. Global Systems and Governance. Contemporary Urban Environments.
- 5 in English Language - 5 in Geography (if studied at GCSE) - Achieving 6 grade 4s (or equivalent) including English Language. - Please note, if you studied Foundation Maths or Sciences at GCSE you will not be able to apply to study A Level Maths or A Level Sciences respectively as GCSE Foundation grades are capped at grade 5.
The course is assessed through two examinations and a Geographical Investigation (coursework). The two exams make up 80% of the final grade and the coursework the remaining 20%.
