To adequately prepare for studying A level PE, students should have ideally achieved grade 6 or above in GCSE Physical Education or GCSE Science. 5 or more GCSE passes (grades 9-5) For A level courses, a level 6 or above is required in the subject to be studied (for example, to be able to study A level History, a 6 or more must be achieved at GCSE) If studying a new A level course (for example Psychology or Sociology) GCSE subjects such as English Maths and Science at level 6 may be required. Please note that English and Maths GCSE must be taken if a level 4 has not been achieved.

Assessment

Assessment Students are assessed in two examinations at the end of year 13. The non-exam assessment consists of practical performance or coaching in one selected sport and written analysis of a performance. Paper 1: Factors affecting participation in physical activity and sport (35%) Paper 2: Factors affecting optimal performance in physical activity and sport (35%) Practical performance in physical activity and sport (15%) Analysis and evaluation of performance (15%)
