Sociology is the study of human behavior and society. It is a Social Science with its own set of guiding principles which are used to question, research, and explain the structures of our social world. If you are interested in people, social groups, identity, inequality, conflict and power in society, politics and the role that society has in shaping us as humans, then you will enjoy Sociology. Sociology complements other subjects including Psychology, Law, History, Economics, Geography, Health and Social Care, Government and Politics, Anthropology and Business Studies. It is useful for many careers in journalism, social research, the law, politics, education, business and health industry. The course also develops core skills required to support students who choose to enter higher education. Progression: Sociology is useful for a range of careers and it prepares students who wish to continue studying academic subjects further. To be considered for this course as part of a full A level programmed you will need an average GCSE point score of 6 (B) including a minimum of grade 6 (B) in Math's and English.
