The Cambridge Technical Extended certificate provide opportunities to develop skills demanded by employers. The qualifications aim to develop your students’ knowledge, understanding and skills of the principles of IT and Global Information Systems. Your students will gain an insight into the IT sector as they investigate the pace of technological change, IT infrastructure, and the flow of information on a global scale, and the importance of legal and security considerations. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, the Level 3 Cambridge Technical in IT focus on the requirements that today’s universities and employers demand. The course is split into five units, made up of three mandatory and two options units: 1: Fundamentals of IT (Mandatory- Externally assessed unit): Information learnt in this unit will create a solid foundation in the fundamentals of hardware, networks, software, the ethical use of computers and how businesses use IT. 2: Global Information (Mandatory- Externally assessed unit): The purpose of this unit is to demonstrate the uses of information in the public domain, globally, in the cloud and across the Internet, by individuals and organisations. 3: Cyber Security (Mandatory- Externally assessed unit): This unit has been designed to gain knowledge and understanding of the range of threats, vulnerabilities and risks that impact on both individuals and organisations. 4: Project Management (Optional - Coursework) 5: Product Development (Optional - Coursework) 6: System Analysis and Design (Optional - Coursework) 7: Internet of Everything (Optional - Coursework)
• 5 pass grades at GCSE • 5+ in English GCSE and a 5+ in Mathematics. • Students do not need to have studied IT or Computer Science GCSE, although is desirable. If not, students must come with a positive attitude and willingness to work hard.
Each unit is graded Pass (Grade E equivalent), Merit (Grade C equivalent) and Distinction (Grade A equivalent).
