Course summary

An A Level in English Literature could lead directly to a BA in English, Journalism, Education, Drama or towards the study of another Arts degree. From here you can look into careers in Teaching, Journalism, Politics, Sociology, Philosophy, The Arts and Broadcasting. • A wide variety of texts, from prose to drama and poetry, as well as excerpts from non-fiction texts • Love through the ages poetry, pre-1900 prose or post 1900s and a Shakespeare play. • Independent critical study which is a comparative essay of two texts, one to be pre-1900. • Students are encouraged to push out of their reading comfort zone and gain an appreciation for the many crafts of writing.
