WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? Students who are interested in pursuing a career in an IT based subject at University or IT Apprenticeship. Achievement of this qualification can support progression to a Higher Education institution to study relevant IT degrees such as, Computing and Technology or Business IT or support progression to other degree courses. COURSE CONTENT This qualification will develop students’ knowledge, understanding and skills of the principles of IT and Global Information Systems. Students will gain an insight into the IT sector as they investigate the pace of technological change, IT infrastructure, the flow of information on a global scale and the importance of legal and security considerations. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, the Level 3 Cambridge Technical in IT, focus on the requirements that today’s universities and employers demand. The course content includes a wide range of Centre assessed units with practical and wider project-based assessment opportunities, as well as examined Units on the Fundamentals of IT, Global Information and Cyber Security.
Students must have achieved a minimum of five GCSEs grades 9-5 or the equivalent, including a grade 5 in GCSE English, a grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics and a Merit in Cambridge Nationals Information Technologies.
There are three mandatory units, which are all externally examined: - Fundamentals of IT - Global Information - Cyber Security Two further coursework units which are Centre-assessed and moderated by OCR: - Product development - The Internet of everything
