Art and Design (Fine Art)
Course summary
Students develop their understanding of the chronology of Art History and the wider context of the periods. They respond to each movement through practical workshops, broadening their experimentation with materials, processes and drawing skills, all the while making connections across the movements. Students will resolve their investigation through documentation, essays and a personal response. Along side this unit, students also take part in a Black History art project that challenges the traditions of Western Art. This project gives students ownership to select and consolidate their skills and challenges them to work collaboratively to curate an exhibition; something that is often required at University.
