Course summary

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? You will enjoy the course if you welcome the opportunity to think about, and discuss, the nature of society and how, as individuals we relate to each other. How are we ‘shaped by society’ You might have opted for English Literature, History, Law, Sociology, Government and Politics, media Studies, Health and Social Care or any of the sciences. Opportunities for practical research will be excellent preparation for students who wish to do primary research as part of their extended project. COURSE CONTENT: Planning, conducting, analyzing and reporting psychological research across a range of experimental and non-experimental methodologies and techniques. Introduces some of the central areas of investigation in psychology organized in key themes. Each key theme is represented by a classic and a contemporary core study. Compulsory section on Issues in mental health. Learners will also study two out of the following applied options: - Child psychology - Criminal psychology WHERE NEXT - POSSIBLE CAREER PROGRESSION? Possible careers include the social services, healthcare, law and policing

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved a minimum of five GCSEs grades 9-5 or the equivalent, including a grade 5 in GCSE English and a grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics.
