Course summary
What will I Study? In this subject you will learn how to create meaningful art and develop your observational drawing skills. You will develop your practical skills using a variety of media and hand skills as well as developing your artistic ability to communicate your ideas in 2D and 3D forms. To encourage creativity, you will undertake sustained investigation and analysis of artists and art history (including architecture), using experimentation and designing and making as a means of developing technical and expressive skills. You will get the opportunity to follow a programme of study which extends experience and personal response as well as developing imagination and critical and reflective thinking.

Assessment
60% of grade comes from a Personal Investigation which is a coursework project led by the student. 40% of the grade comes from an exam project where students select a starting point from an exam paper and complete a project similar to the personal investigation. For the exam project there is a 15 hour practical exam.
