WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? The course is for students who wish to progress into a career into software development, programming or computer gaming and enjoy finding imaginative solutions to complex problems. More generally, the course will equip you with the skills necessary to adapt to the frequent changes in the world of computing and with the knowledge of engineering solutions to real-world problems. WHERE NEXT - POSSIBLE CAREER PROGRESSION? After studying computing you will gain a number of transferable skills, which can be used in many different occupations. Some of these include programming, software engineering, software development or any type of science.
Students must have achieved a minimum of five GCSEs Grades 9-5 or the equivalent including a Grade 5 in GCSE English Literature or GCSE English Language, a Grade 6 in Mathematics and a Grade 6 in GCSE Computer Science. In the absence of a GCSE in Computer Science, a Level 2 Merit in Information Technology or Information Communication Technology or above, with knowledge of Python (*proof required), and/or a Pass in the Entrance Examination during Bridging Week, will be taken into consideration for entry. NB: If proof of Python knowledge is insufficient, then both a practical and theory test will be set during Bridging Week.
