This subject is about the business world, how it works and how it affects society. It is centrally concerned with how businesses analyse their options to achieve the best outcome. This course provides a broad understanding of business knowledge and skills to support progression to higher education. Students will gain a critical understanding of organisations and their ability to meet society's needs and wants and they will generate enterprising and creative approaches to business opportunities, problems and issues. Students will acquire a range of relevant business and generic skills, including decision making, problem solving, the challenging of assumptions and critical analysis and they will apply numerical skills in a range of business contexts. Candidates must have both Maths and English Language or English Literature GCSE at Grade 5 or above, and also fulfil the entry criteria for their chosen subject courses: GCSE English Language or GCSE English Literature and GCSE Mathematics Grade 5 or Above. If Taken, GCSE Business Studies at Grade 5 or above.
Three, two-hour written examinations at the end of Year 13, structured as follows: Paper one: Marketing and People and Global BUsiness (35% of overall qualification) Paper two: Managing Business Activities, and Business Decisions and Strategy (35%) Paper three: Synoptic paper based on a pre-released case study (30%)
