A qualification in English Language is extremely valuable. It is useful when applying for training or employment in most fields and admission to most degree courses. During this course, you will develop your written and analytical skills to a high level, which is particularly valuable for jobs within professions such as journalism, publishing, advertising, speech and language therapy, management, law, teaching, and business. In English Language, students will study the following topics: Language Variation Language and Gender Meaning and Representation Language Diversity Language Discourse English Grammar
A minimum of 6 grade 4s, including a grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language, is required. GCSE Maths must also be at grade 3 as a minimum. If GCSE Maths is at a grade 3, you would have to resit it.
At A-Level, you will be assessed by two end-of-year exams and the production of a 3500-word coursework portfolio.
