An overview of the English legal system, you will gain an insight into the process involved in the creation of the counties’ laws and its continuing development. You will also develop an understanding of aspects of law such as sentencing and the role of juries. In addition you will learn about the concept of liability and how crimes are broken down into different elements. You will examine individual elements of crime to help them analyze how a defendant can be convicted. Once you have a full understanding of the legal process, you will develop your knowledge looking at criminal law and the law of tort. The focus will be on the specific aspects of these areas of the law and critically if any need for reform. You will learn about numerous cases that have helped to define our current system and the points of law that they represent.
