Course summary
An A Level in a modern foreign language would be beneficial to a great majority of courses at university and would be particularly helpful if you choose to spend a year abroad. Modern languages can lead to a variety of exciting careers such as translating, interpreting, finance, law, sales and marketing, engineering, tourism, leisure, public sector, United Nations and European Union, media, teaching (primary and secondary), and linguistics. Additionally, the knowledge of a foreign language can allow you to pursue any career at an international level. This course will help to expand your interest in the French language and culture, as well as develop your linguistic skills. You will focus on a range of historical and contemporary topics which will further develop your understanding of France and Francophone countries. You will also study French literature and film, which will encourage you to stay up to date with French current affairs. You will also have the opportunity to travel to France, to improve your linguistic skills and knowledge of French culture.
