Course summary

Biology at UAI is a popular subject, which covers a range of topics from cells to that of whole organisms. It is a cross-curricula subject that provides links to a variety of other disciplines across the school. The curriculum allows biologists to engage with and apply a wide range of knowledge and skills, including participating in dissections, field trips and interesting practical. At UAI, we provide high-quality teaching, which offers an assortment of clubs and extra-curricular activities to inspire young minds

Entry requirements

Have a minimum of Grade 4 GCSE in Mathematics and English (Language or Literature) and 3 other passes at 4 or better individual subject grade requirements: Minimum GCSE English Grade (Language or Literature) 5 Minimum GCSE Mathematics Grade 6 Other Specific Requirements 7 in GCSE Biology or Double Science.

How you'll be assessed

The assessment of pupils form an important aspect of the department’s work. Each pupil’s progress is closely monitored by assessment tests. Investigations and practical activities also form part of their continuous assessment. All pupils are assessed by written work throughout the year. Pupil progress is closely monitored against individual targets and formal records are kept in accordance with school policy. Any causes for concern are flagged early so that effective intervention strategies can be implemented whenever student achievement is falling below expectations.
