Course summary
This course provides you with the vital skills needed to enter employment within the industry. Travel and Tourism covers a wide range of employment opportunities in the fastest growing industry in the UK. It includes jobs in airlines and hotels, with tour operators and travel agents or involving tourist attractions, conferences and events, hospitality and entertainment. This type of work can offer exciting careers to those who like meeting people, want more than a routine job and are interested in travel. You will learn essential skills such as business awareness, customer service and understanding destinations in the UK and worldwide. You will also be able to work towards a career within the aviation industry. The aim of this course is to provide you with an excellent grounding in the skills and knowledge needed for a career in travel and tourism. You will develop research skills in order to find out about specific tourist destinations and gain an understanding of the attractions on offer. You will then use your communication skills to present information, and to ask and respond to questions. Key topics include: •investigating the travel and tourism sector •the business of travel and tourism •the UK as a destination •customer service in travel and tourism
