Course summary

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and its functions especially those affecting behaviour in a given context. Key questions explored in A level Psychology:  What is abnormality?  Does early childhood attachments affect later adult relationships?  How reliable is your memory?  Why do people blindly obey those in authority?  Are criminals born or made?  How are children’s cognitive abilities different to adults?

Entry requirements

5 or more GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including English, Mathematics and Science, grade 5 or B or above engto study A level Psychology. For those who have taken GCSE Psychology, a grade 5 or above.

How you'll be assessed

Paper 1: Introductory Topics in Psychology (Memory, Attachment, Psychopathology, Social Influence) – 2 hours Paper 2: Psychology in Context (Research Methods, Biopsychology, Approaches)- 2 hours Paper 3: Issues and Options in Psychology (Schizophrenia, Cognition and Development, Forensic Psychology, Issues and Debates) – 2 hours
