In order to take Geography at A’ Level it is vital that you gained a grade 6 at GCSE Geography. Several topics covered in the course are developments of the work covered at GCSE, but others are new.
A LEVEL COURSE CONTENT AND EXAMINATIONS Paper 1 Exam – 2hr 15 – 30% of the qualification • Tectonic Processes and Hazards • Landscape Systems, Processes and Change • The Water Cycle and Water Insecurity • The Carbon Cycle and Energy Security Paper 2 Exam – 2hr 15 – 30% of the qualification • Globalisation • Shaping Places • Superpowers • Global Development and Connections Paper 3 Exam – 2hr 15 – 20% of the qualification Three synoptic themes within the compulsory content areas: • Players • Attitudes and Actions • Futures and Uncertainties Paper 4 Non-examined – 20% of the qualification An investigation report relating to the compulsory or optional content. The topic may relate to any aspect of geography contained within the specification.
