Course summary

COURSE AIMS The aims of the course are to be able to learn about a wide range of philosophical and theological issues and to be able to gain skills so as to look at issues in a critical and analytical way. The course challenges beliefs that may have been held for many years by students and looks at some of the different philosophers’ views about how to go about answering some of the biggest questions we have in life. Students will be able to look at the ethical background to arguments and try to understand why we act in the way that we do. There is also the opportunity to study elements of the New Testament, looking titles of Jesus, Kingdom of God, signs and much more. As the course progresses you will learn that Religious Studies is a subject which is full of ideas and themes that interconnect with each other.

Entry requirements

Students need to have at least a B grade in GCSE Religious Studies, a B grade in English Language and an open, enquiring mind. Entry into A Level Religious Studies is at the discretion of the Head of Religious Education.
