Media Studies is the study of all aspects of media that surround us in our daily lives. During the course we look at TV dramas, magazines, newspapers, films, music videos, digipak designs and adverts, in order to analyse and learn the conventions of these texts. In previous years, students have studied films such as ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, ‘Gravity’ and ’12 Years a Slave’ in AS and then films such as ‘Adulthood’, ‘Fish Tank’ and ‘The Selfish Giant’ in A2. Students learn to use industry standard software such as Adobe, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects, which puts them ahead of the rest heading into university Media courses.
