Course summary
Students begin the course with a study of UK Politics, looking at democracy and participation, political parties, voting behaviour and the media. Students also study the core political ideas of socialism, liberalism and conservatism. Component 2 is UK Government, including the constitution, Parliament, the PM and executive, and the relationship between branches of government. Students will also study the non-core political idea of feminism. Component 3 is a comparative study looking at politics in the USA. Students will study the US Constitution and federalism, US Congress, Presidency, the Supreme Court and civil rights, democracy and participation in the USA.
