Year 12 Component 1- Section A- News and Online Media: This section consists of two linked in-depth studies that focus on contemporary news in the UK, requiring learners to explore how and why newspapers and their online counterparts are evolving as media products and the relationship between both online and offline news. Component 1: Section B- Media Language and Representation: Students explore media language and representation, through media products set by OCR in the following media forms: magazines, music videos and advertising and marketing. Component 2- Section A- Media Industries and Audiences: Students explore media industries and audiences, through media products set by OCR for film (radio and video games are studied in Year 13.) Component 2- Section B- Long Form Television Drama: Students will engage in one in-depth study of television as an evolving, global media form. They must study one complete episode of a contemporary English language long form TV drama and one complete episode of a non-English language long form TV drama to inform their study. Component 3- Non-examined assessment (NEA): Students will research the magazine industry and then plan and create a magazine front cover, contents page and the magazine’s website homepage. In Year 12, this is a preliminary task. In Year 13 it is completed formally.
Grade 5 in English Language and Literature
Pupils will sit OCR A Level English Media exams at the end of year 13.
