Course summary

If you are interested in progressing to higher education, employment or an apprenticeship in engineering then this course is ideal for you. The fundamental philosophy of this course is that you gain relevant skills and knowledge from studying a range of content focused on electrical/electronic and mechanical disciplines, for example electrical machines and maintenance of mechanical systems. The College has made substantial investments in its Engineering and IT infrastructure; we have the latest hardware and software, in addition to a specialist network/hardware laboratory. The course is run by highly trained and qualified teachers with a proven track record of high achievement rate at all levels. Pearson BTEC L3 National Extended Diploma in Engineering is designed as a two-year full-time course, which is equivalent to 3 A Level. What units/topics will be studied? BTEC L3 National Extended Diploma consists of 15 units of which 7 are mandatory and 3 are externally assessed. The units are including: Engineering Principles (External Exam) Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team (Mandatory - – internally assessed) Engineering Product Design and Manufacture (Externally assessed) Applied Commercial and Quality Principles in Engineering (Mandatory – internally assessed) A Specialist Engineering Project (Mandatory – internally assessed) Microcontroller Systems for Engineers (Externally assessed) Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems (Mandatory – internally assessed)

Entry requirements

• At least 5 GCSEs grades 9 - 4 including ‘5’ in Maths, ‘5’ Science and ‘5/4’ English. • You will need to be well-motivated and committed to attending classes and completing all coursework on time.
