Cambridge Technicals in Sport and Physical Activity provides students with practical opportunities to develop relevant core knowledge and skills. Students further develop their skills through specialist pathways that help them deliver sport and physical activity to a wide range of participants. Dependent on the base site and the pathway the student is following, they can cover topics from the following components: YEAR 12 AND 13 CONTENTUnit 1 Body systems and the effects of physical activity (Exam Unit) - Unit 2 Sports coaching and Activity Leadership - Unit 3 Sports organisation and development (Exam Unit) - Unit 4 Working safely in sport, exercise, health and leisure (Exam Unit) - Unit 5 Performance analysis in sport and exercise - Unit 8 Organisation of Sports Events - Unit 11 Physical activity for specific groups - Unit 17 Sports Injuries and rehabilitation - Unit 18 Practical Skills in Sports and Physical Activities
A minimum of five grade 4s at GCSE or equivalent, with at least a Merit or grade 4 in a relevant equivalent qualification
External Examinations The examination periods are in January and May. Learners are allowed to sit each examination twice to secure a Pass. The Diploma pathway comprises of three examination units. The examination units are: - Unit 1 Body systems and the effects of physical activity (All pathways) - Unit 3 Sports organisation and development (All pathways) - Unit 4 Working safely in sport, exercise, health and leisure (Diploma pathway) - Unit 21 Sport as a business (Extended Diploma pathway) Internally assessed The majority of the units are assessed internally by the learner’s teacher and are then externally moderated by OCR.
