Studying A Level Biology allows you to develop your knowledge of living organisms and their interactions. You will consider how complex ecosystems can be supported to maintain biodiversity and begin to understand the complexities of inheritance and genetic advances in medicine. During the course you will complete a wide range of practicals with opportunities to travel to Hampton School to access their equipment. Biology is a key requirement for medicine and a multitude of other courses such as pharmacology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, research science, microbiology, marine biology, conservation, and ecology, environmental management, food science, agricultural engineering and zoology. What skills will I develop? ● Essay writing skills to write a synoptic essay as part of paper 3 (a key skill for University study ● Practical skills for which you will be awarded the ‘practical endorsement’
You must achieve a Grade 7 in Biology at GCSE OR 7-7 in GCSE Combined Science Trilogy. A grade 7 in GCSE Mathematics is preferred.
