Course summary
The English Literature A-Level course will develop your enjoyment of reading, teaching you to critically analyse texts, considering their contexts and possible meanings. As you progress through the course you will have the opportunity to explore a range of authors, genres, time periods and critical concepts. The NEA component will allow you to put the knowledge and skills you’ve gained into practice as you research and complete your own 2500-word comparative essay on texts and a topic of personal interest. English Literature students will be expected to form and confidently share their own interpretations of the texts we read, as well as complete independent wider reading. English Literature is an A-Level extremely well-regarded by all universities and which will demonstrate that you are able to read widely and independently and develop your own interpretations of different texts.
