Course summary

This course gives students the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social care sector. The course leads to Higher Education, Apprenticeships and Employment. In recent years, our students have progressed on to various HE courses including Midwifery, Nursing (including Adult, Child and Mental Health), Social Work, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Paramedic Sciences and Psychology. This is an exciting course which will give students the unique opportunities to make a real difference to the community and to be part of the next generation of Health and Social Care. The course has a combination of external and internal assessments. If you specifically want to work with children, please visit our Early Years Department. Duration of course: 2 years. (Equivalent to 3 A Levels). This is a fully timetabled course. What units/topics will be studied? Units include: Anatomy and Physiology Research Methodology Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs Physiological Disorders and their Care Nutritional Health Understanding Mental Wellbeing Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs Assessing Children’s Development Support Needs Working in Health and Social Care
