Who is this course for? Business Studies will suit students who have an interest in businesses and how they operate on both a functional and strategic level. Students who are looking to work in a range of industries in the private sector or students wishing to set up their own business will benefit from this course, with the potential of studying it at a higher level in the future. What is the course about? Business Studies looks at developing students' understanding of how real life businesses operate by looking at the four functional areas, Finance, Marketing, Operations and HR, and how they interact with the external environment. Students will also understand how corporations make strategic decisions in order to be competitive in both the short, medium and long term. What can the course lead to? This course can lead to students going straight into a career (typically in the private sector) or university of their choice.
GCSE Level 6+ in English and Mathematics. Prior knowledge of Business Studies is advantageous but not essential. All students must achieve at least 5 level 5 grades at GCSE.
Paper 1: 2 hour written exam 100 marks 33.3% of A Level Three compulsory sections: -Section A has 15 multiple choice questions worth 15 marks -Section B has short answer questions worth 35 marks -Sections C and D have two essay questions (choice of one from two and one from two) worth 25 marks each Paper 2: 2 hour written exam 100 marks 33.3% of A Level -Three data response compulsory questions worth approximately 33 marks each and made up of three or four part questions Paper 3: 2 hour written exam 100 marks 33.3% of A Level -One compulsory case study followed by approximately six questions
