Course summary

The course integrates a broad range of modules within the Health and Social Care curriculum to create a diverse program of study. The modules explored during your course include Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding Adults, Caring for Children and Young People and Effective Communication. This is an assignment based qualification. All assignments are internally and externally assessed through a range of assessment methods. Examples of assessments methods used on this program include observations, presentations, reports, posters and essays. Flexibility is provided for any learner with SEN; support is available from the SEN team. The maintenance of high standards is our priority, in order to make the lessons interesting and stimulating for all learners. Work experience As part of the program you will conduct a two-week work placement in a Health and Social Care environment. This will allow you to apply your theoretical knowledge into a practical work setting. An assignment will also be completed in relation to your work placement. Work experience occurs during the first and second year of your program of study.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A*-C) including English and Maths and/or equivalent. An Initial diagnostic assessment has to be completed before you are enrolled; you need to achieve L2 English, diagnostic 60% or above to be accepted on to the Level 3 course. This is to ensure you are put on the right course at the right level.
