The course focuses on enabling students to improve their knowledge of Mathematics and understand how to apply it to situations in the ‘real’ world. In particular, it aims to develop students’ understanding and ability to apply mathematics, and consists of: • Analysis of data • Personal finance • Estimation • Critical analysis of data and models • 4 optional modules
5 or more 9-4 (A*-C) grades at GCSE including either English Lang/Lit or Maths at Grade 4, plus A ‘strong’ Grade 4 (in the top 40% of the Grade 4 marks band) or above Higher Tier GCSE Maths.
There are two equally weighted written examinations (1hr 30mins each) at the end of the second year, however there are continual internal assessments throughout both years to ensure students are making sufficient progress.
