Course summary

The Art, Craft and Design combined disciplines A Level offers students a broad and exciting experience. The course covers a range of specialisms, including, fine art, photography, 3D design and graphic communication. Students are introduced to a range of historical and contemporary artists, both in the classroom and through visits to art galleries. Due to the variety of specialisms on offer, this course is not only perfect for those who wish to study art in the future, but would also suit those who enjoy art and want to boost their creativity. CAREER PATHWAYS: Whether it’s in photography, graphic design, painting or any other art-related specialty, career options are limited only by your imagination. Entry requirements

Students must achieve 4 GCSE grades 9-6 and 7 GCSE grades 9-4 (Maths and English grade 5) Grade 6 in Art. A portfolio of work.

How you'll be assessed

Unit 1: Personal Investigation: Portfolio, a collection of practical work. Related study, an extended written response: 60% of the qualification Unit 2: External set task: A collection of practical work based on theme set by the exam board and a 15 hour Controlled assessment: Outcome to the set task unit. 40% of the qualification.
