Year 12 Content There will be a choice of eight routes that centres can pick from covering a range of topics and time periods: Route A: Conquest, control and resistance in the medieval world Route B: Religion and the state in early modern Europe Route C: Revolutions in early modern and modern Europe Route D: Challenges to the authority of the state in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries Route E: Communist states in the twentieth century Route F: Searching for rights and freedoms in the twentieth century Route G: Nationalism, dictatorship and democracy in twentieth-century Europe Route H: Democracies in change: Britain and the USA in the twentieth century Within these routes, students study two different units which are both assessed by examination.
English Lang - 5 Relevant subject - At least a grade 6 at GCSE Extended writing subject A minimum of seven grade 5s in full course GCSE subjects. No vocational subjects allowed.
Students sit examinations in their A Level courses at the end of Year 13. All students will take internal end of year examinations at the end of year 12 to determine suitability to continue with the subject in Year 13. Students who do not meet the required pass grade in the Year 12 end of year examinations will not be permitted to progress into Year 13. History A Level is now a two year linear course and will be assessed at the end of the two years with three examination units and one coursework unit. There will be no option for students to sit the AS qualification - we are no longer offering AS courses and all History courses last two years.
