Course summary

What will I learn on this course? It constitutes an integrated study with a focus on language, culture and society. It fosters a range of transferable skills, including communication, critical thinking and creativity, which are valuable to the individual and to society. AS content is studied in the context of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries around the world: Modern and traditional values; Equal rights; Modern day idols; Cyberspace; Cultural heritage; Spanish regional identity; Film; Volver by Pedro Almódovar; Grammar. A-Level content as above plus: Today’s youth, tomorrow’s citizens; Monarchies and dictatorships; Popular movements; Literary text: La Casa de Bernarda Alba by Federico Garcia Lorca. What careers and university courses could this course lead me to? This course is appropriate for undergraduate study and further study in Translation, Linguistics, Teaching languages, The Arts, Marketing, Business, Politics, Communications, Management consultancy and Public Relations plus any international job roles.

Entry requirements

To enter the course you must have: Level 8 or above in Spanish GCSE or we will consider native speakers of Spanish who do not have a GCSE. Must have a grade 7+ average in GCSEs. Must have a grade 7 in relevant GCSE subject.
