This is a one year course which is aimed at people who would like to develop their knowledge and skills required for working in the health and social care sector specialising in Health Science. Successful completion will lead to progression onto the level 3 extended diploma. The course will also provide you work experience opportunities in the health sector. The units covered on this course are: • Human Lifespan Development • Working in Health and Social Care • Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs • Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care • Physiological Disorders and Their Care • Nutritional Health • Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care • Enquiries into Current Research into Health and Social Care • Work Experience in Health and Social Care Promoting Public Health • Medical Physics Application in The Health Sector • Genetics • Biomedical Science On successful completion of this course, at Merit or above, it will allow you to progress onto a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health Studies (Science). It will also give employment opportunities within the Health and Social Care Sector in role such as dietician, podiatrist, paramedic, radiography, radiotherapy etc.
You will need five GCSE grades 4/C or above including English, maths and science.
You will be assessed on an on-going basis through a variety of methods including written exams, case studies and presentations.
