This course gives you the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social care sector. The course will prepare you to understand how to provide the best possible service and care to people of all ages and with widely differing needs. The following units are covered in the extended certificate: • Unit 1: Building Positive Relationships in Health and Social Care Introduces you to the many different relationships you will encounter within the Health and Social Care sector. • Unit 2 – Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care (1.5 hr Exam) Aids you to understand the implications of diversity on practice and the effects of discriminatory practice on individuals who require care. • Unit 3 – Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care (1.5hr Exam) Acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to equip you in maintaining a safe working environment. • Unit 4 – Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care (2 hr Exam) Learn about the basic structure and functions of the body systems involved in everyday activities and maintenance of health. • Unit 14 – The impact of long time Physiological conditions Support individuals with long-term physiological conditions in planning their care & support. The types, causes & effects of these conditions on individuals. • Unit 10- Nutrition for health Consider nutritional health benefits and learn how to support other people to follow dietary advice to impact their health and wellbeing.
A minimum of five grade 4s at GCSE or equivalent, with at least a merit or grade 4 in a relevant equivalent qualification.
The Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care is made up of 6 mandatory units. Three of the units are externally assessed exams and the other three units are internally assessed by staff and moderated by OCR.
