Course summary

This course is ideal if you have completed the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies and would like to develop your plumbing skills and knowledge further. This course will develop your skills in the trade and support you to gain employment in the industry. You will study topics like health and safety, environmental technology systems, plumbing system installation planning, complex cold water systems, domestic hot water, sanitation and drainage systems, central heating systems and domestic gas principles. You will also be encouraged to find a work experience placement whilst on this programme; the college has a Job shop facility that can offer support, such as CV writing and interview techniques. On successful completion of all the City & Guilds modules, together with the associated functional skills element, could progress to an apprenticeship or employment.

Entry requirements

- You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include Mathematics and English and Science level 4 or above, and a Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing. You will also need at least 65% in BPEC Test – this will be taken at interview. - You will also be asked to attend an interview. - You will be expected to have 100% attendance, 100% punctuality and homework completed and submitted timely.

How you'll be assessed

The course consists of 50% theory which will be delivered and supported by our interactive learning package (Moodle) with course notes and handouts. The other 50% of the course involves a series of ‘hands-on’ practical tasks with practical assessments to produce course work evidence. You will be assessed by practical assessment throughout the course and GOLA (on-line) multiple choice examinations.
