Core Math's is a 1-year course which is studied alongside your three other A Level/Vocational courses. The core mathematics qualification is designed to better prepare students for the demands of further study, employment and life. You will study a range of topics in the compulsory section of the course, including analysis of data (sampling, calculating averages), Math's for personal finance (e.g. student loans, mortgages, interest rates and APR, income tax and National Insurance), Estimation and critical analysis of given data. You will also study statistical techniques such as critical analysis of given data and models, The Normal Distribution, probabilities and estimation, correlation and regression. This will also be helpful if you are studying other A-levels that use these techniques such as Biology, Psychology, Business or Geography.
In addition to the college entry requirements you will need a minimum of a grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics.
