Our curriculum aims to leave students prepared to maximise their future with extensive knowledge and understanding of key scientific concepts across the specialist disciplines of Biology. To this we will: • Develop students’ appreciation for Science and its significance (A) • Encourage students to become Scientists (B) • Allow students to access Science through its communication (C) • Develop the skills required of Scientists (D) Year 12 Topic 1 Biological molecules Topic 2 Cells Topic 3 Organisms exchange substances with their environment Topic 4 Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms Year 13 Topic 5 Energy transfers in and between organisms Topic 6 Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external| environments Topic 7 Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems Topic 8 The control of gene expression
• A minimum of seven grade 5s in full course GCSE subjects. No vocational subjects allowed. • English Language grade 5 and Maths grade 6 • Must attain an overall grade 6 in Biology if doing separate sciences or a 6/6 in the Trilogy exam. • Extended writing subject.
This is a linear course, which means that all three A-level exams will be sat at the end of your A-level course.
