A range of biological, chemistry and physics based subjects which include human physiology, microbiology, genetics and genetic engineering, astronomy and medical physics. You will gain a deep understanding of scientific theory and skills, coupled with experimental techniques. Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to perform a variety of biology and chemistry experimental work, and will also learn how to work safely within a laboratory environment. You will use Maths and statistics to analyse experimental data. Our students receive key organic, energetic, practical and analytical chemical skills with a focus on analysis, identification, retrosynthetic analysis, spectroscopy and reaction energetics. Cellular biochemistry and material science is also covered. The vocational courses include traditional scientific thinking and research skills. Students receive exposure to appropriate scientific work experience settings, extra-curricular scientific talks and guidance through the UCAS process.
Either - Four GCSE grades 9-4, including a minimum grade 5 in Maths and Science. Or - Level 2 Diploma at Merit or Distinction and a minimum GCSE grade 5 in Maths and Science
Assessments are carried out through assignments, coursework and two externally marked exams.
