Mathematics in context is a new Level 3 qualification designed to support the mathematical content of other qualifications e.g. A Level Biology, Business, Computing, Geography, and Psychology. It will also be hugely useful for any student wishing to study a university course with some mathematical content. The course covers four key areas: applications of statistics, probability, linear programming and sequences and growth.Topics already covered at GCSE are developed further, with particular focus on their real life application. About 20% of the course will be totally new content.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4. Students applying to the 6th Form without GCSEs but with an equivalent qualification must provide confirmation from their most recent educational establishment of courses studied, levels of attainment and equivalent grades with reference to GCSE grades 9 to 1. Additional Requirements: All students who have secured a GCSE grade 5 in Mathematics and are not studying A Level Mathematics can study Mathematics in Context (Core Mathematics)
