Year 1: • Nomenclature & isomerism • Atomic structure & periodicity • Amount of substance • Organic chemistry • Energetics & equilibria • Bonding & kinetics Year 2: • Transition metals & thermodynamics • Rates & acids & bases • Electrode potential & electrochemical cells • Further organic chemistry • Aromatic chemistry • Polymers, amino acids, proteins & DNA • H nmr & chromatography PROGRESSION ROUTES: There are a huge range of degree courses available to study either Chemistry itself or combined with other subjects such as: Medicinal Chemistry, Forensic Science and Toxicology or Pharmacology. Certain courses require an A Level in Chemistry. These include courses such as Chemical Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Pharmacy and Dentistry
5x 9-4 including English Lang (grade 4). Grade 6-6 in both Trilogy Sciences or Chemistry Triple Science subject required. Students must also obtain a grade 6 in Maths and have an APS above 5.0.
In Maths and Science subjects, grade 6 applicants must be endorsed by the Head of Department. Students will be expected to undertake preparatory work over the summer for all subjects. Students will complete entrances tests for Maths and Sciences.
