Course Outline: The duration of the course is either one year to gain an AS award or two years for the full A level qualification. Skills: History covers a wide range of concepts in a variety of countries. It is important for students to have a range of interests in historical events. Good research skills are crucial, alongside the ability to construct well researched essays. Future progressions from this course: History is a much respected A level and is widely accepted for most university courses and sought by employers. It can lead to many different careers in journalism, education, law, management and politics.
A minimum of five GCSE grade 5s or above. A 9-5 grade in history is essential: if the subject has been studied; a grade 9-5 in English is required.
