It covers the main human body systems and compares them to a range of other organisms, frequently considering things from an evolutionary perspective. It also explores applied topics such as genetic engineering and the use of stem cells. Biology is a highly valued academic subject which can lead to a wide range of course and careers. Most student who study Biology progress on to further study at University, on a wide range of undergraduate degrees including Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Clinical/Medical Science, and Bio-technology. However, other progression routes, such as into apprenticeships and directly into employment are possible.
