Course summary
A Level Geography is wide ranging, covering topics from coastal erosion and management to poverty, development issues, climate change and tectonic hazards. The course is highly contemporary, and provides the opportunity to study current national and world issues. The breadth of the course means that there is something of interest for all students. Geography develops a wide range of skills as well as subject knowledge. Geographical skills include fieldwork and observation, map work and cartography, sampling data and presentation as well as analytical skills. Geography also helps you refine your transferable skills such as team working, decision making, problem solving, forming and expressing opinions, appreciating different points of view, data analysis, graphical skills, time management, ICT, presentation, independent research, organisation, numeracy and literacy. This is why Geography is so transferable and desirable when entering employment or higher education.
