Course summary

Religious Studies A Level seeks to explore life’s ‘big questions’. The course particularly develops students’ analysis and evaluation skills. You will consider a diverse range of religious, philosophical and ethical issues which will challenge you to be inquisitive and to think deeply. Teachers are experienced in the demands of the course and will support you as you make the transition from GCSE to A Level. We study three components Christianity, Philosophy and Ethics which have equal weighting. We ask the ‘big’ questions of life such as: • Can we prove God’s existence? • Can we speak meaningfully about God? • Is resurrection possible? • Are certain actions always wrong? • How free are we? Religious Studies provides a valuable foundation to many degrees and careers including: Theology; Philosophy; Teaching; Lecturing; Journalism; Law; Broadcasting; Archaeology; Psychology; Counselling, Social Science, Nursing, Medicine; Midwifery.
