WHY STUDY THIS COURSE? By choosing Business Studies A-level, you’ll engage with the world of business through the context of current business developments and real business situations. You’ll learn how management, leadership and decision-making can improve performance in marketing, operational, financial and human resources. You’ll also explore the interrelated nature of business activities and how they affect businesses, be they large or small, UK or internationally focussed and in different sectors such as service or manufacturing. You’ll learn how to analyse competitive environments and markets; assess how ethical, environmental and technological factors influence decision making; use a range of quantitative and non-quantitative data to evaluate strategic and functional options; understand how decision made affect stakeholders and how they will respond. You’ll also develop your critical analysis, decision-making and problem-solving skills COURSE DESCRIPTION The course is broken down into 10 distinct sections, from why businesses exist, and the importance of managerial decision making, through to the four main functional areas of operations, marketing, human resources and finance, finally focusing on strategy. The course culminates in three exam papers, each 2 hours and worth 100 marks comprising a mix of short and long answers, predominantly based around case study examples. COURSE DESCRIPTION The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about the business sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in business-related subjects. It is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels. The course is the equivalent in size to one A Level. Four units of which two are external exams and two are internal coursework submissions: · Unit 1: Exploring Business (Internal) · Unit 2: Developing a Marketing Campaign (External) · Unit 3: Personal and Business Finance (External) · Unit 8: Recruitment and Selection Process (Internal) ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES You will have the opportunity to enter the nationally renowned Young Enterprise Award and also take part in the new Business IT Club. You will also be exposed to a range of professional speakers from industry. There is Trip to Deloitte to see innovative tech in use in the work place

Assessment Paper 1: Business 1 What's assessed: All content above Assessed Written exam: 2 hours 100 marks in total 33.3% of A-level Questions: Three compulsory sections: Section A: 15 multiple choice questions (MCQs) worth 15 marks. Section B has short answer questions worth 35 marks. Sections C and D have two essay questions (choice of one from two and one from two) worth 25 marks each. Paper 2: Business 2 The above content is assessed in this paper. Assessed All content above 100 marks in total 33.3% of A-level Questions Three data response compulsory questions worth approximately 33 marks each and made up of three or four part questions Paper 3: Business 3 The above content is assessed in this paper.
