English Literature
Course summary
The study of Literature is a study of human experience and social influences over the years. You will engage with a range of wonderful texts and develop a passion for them. Many of the skills developed through studying this subject are related to independent thinking — the ability to analyse sophisticated ideas and the ways in which they are presented, to synthesise large and complex texts, and to know how to build a convincing argument are just a few. English Literature develops skills in research, communication and interpretation that enhance and enrich the study of other subjects across humanities and STEM. These skills are highly valued by universities and future employers with a wide variety of career options available: Media, Television and Broadcasting, Journalism, Law, Politics, Marketing, Publishing, Teaching and Civil Service.
