If you are over 16 years old and have an interest in sports performance, sports leadership or fitness, BTEC Level 3 may be for you. This two-year course will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to progress onto Higher Education or for a potential career in sports and recreation industries. You will study a wide range of sport related subjects at Barnet and Southgate College, including: Anatomy & Physiology; Fitness Training and Programming; Professional Development in Sport and Application of Fitness Testing. As part of our full-time study programme, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and you will also be required to attend training with your chosen academy.
To get on this course you are required to have 4 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English and/or Maths and preferably P.E. Applicants with a BTEC L2 Certificate in Sport require a Pass grade, with English and maths GCSEs at a minimum grade 3. You must have an interest and choose from one of the following academies on your application: Athletics; Basketball; Football; Tennis; Boxing or Leadership. It would be ideal that you have previous experience playing competitive sport however, not necessary to secure a placement on the course.
A range of assessments will take place throughout the course including: 3 exams (external assessment); practical assessments; written assignments; presentations and workbooks.
